Experience and Education:
I have been in the hair industry for over 20 years, and I continue to carry a real passion for creating new shapes and styles for my clients. I am a graduate of Sam Brocato’s Lockworks Academy In Baton Rouge, and I have worked with and learned from some of the best hairdressers in our industry. I’ve attended many classes including Toni & Guy and Redken Fifth Avenue in NYC, and I am always looking for opportunities to learn, whether it is a class in Vegas or watching another stylist in my salon.
My education goals are to continue to challenge myself as a stylist and to keep up with the latest techniques and trends. I’m always looking for practical, hands on education that I can bring back into my salon.
One word: balance. I’m trying to find balance between managing my salon, giving to my clients behind the chair, and spending time with my family.
My current obsessions are blogging and yoga.
Giving myself permission to step away from the salon and enjoy some downtime.
My hair crushes all have one common theme: natural, shiny hair with movement. Some of my favorites are Jennifer Aniston’s “lob”, Jennifer Lawrence’s pixie cut, and I am loving the blunt bobs that are being sported by Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig and Reese Witherspoon.
Pastimes and Passions:
I love working on my blog, kristenhoover.net and I enjoy reading and practicing yoga. I am pretty low-key. I would like to travel more and cooking and entertaining for friends and family is one of my favorite things to do!
I love classic styles mixed with an element of earthy “hippie chic”.
Hair I love to do:
I love soft, healthy hair that is not drenched in a lot of product. Whether it’s short and cropped or long layers and curls, hair that has shine and movement is the prettiest to me. I love to create soft organic looks that have an edge to them. I believe that hair should reflect a client’s personality and style and should not take large amounts of time to style.
